My hesitancy to not go off of gut feelings and notions is because I find that it is too often these gut feelings and notions are negative.
"Don't do that."
"You're about to mess up."
"God says no."
Rarely is there a why to follow the negative rationale.
Almost never is there ever an outside source to confirm the negativity of the gut feelings and notions.

JD - sounds like God's will to me!
No, seriously I have friends who used to live there and they would go back in a heartbeat.

Re: Job Promotion-- Sunny San Diego, CA
Although I have spent a lot of time over the past 30 years in Los Angeles it was only last summer that I finally made it to San Diego. It was a whirlwind two day trip but I really liked what I saw and would like to go back and spend a few days. Seems like a great place other than the usual ridiculous California prices on gas, food, and real estate!

It's not official at this point BUT the only way I can see this not happening is if God somehow stops or blocks this AND if He does stop or block this, I am sure it would be for my good-- but I probably would be disappointed in the short term.
Anyway...
I got a couple serious questions regarding situations like this and I am looking for wisdom.
1) Is it safe to have a mindset that prays, "God if XYZ is not Your Will, then just don't let XYZ happen, don't allow it, God stop this from happening if it is not Your Will"?
2) In the middle of typing this post, the system forced me to login again and now the other question I have is lost because I can't remember it right now.

I know we disagree on many things.
I smile with the first prayer. I could easily see myself praying that same prayer if I still prayed. Though I do bow my head when someone says grace over a meal... maybe that counts lol.
Careful is good. It's also okay to let God know your thoughts and feelings on the matter while still deferring to his will.
"Let this cup pass from me but not my will but thine"
"Let me have this job I really want it but not my will but yours"
At least that's one sinners opinion!

I have other applications out for other jobs in other areas as well, to include here in Cleveland.
There is one other prospect that looks very promising00 again, I am fine if the Lord lets none of these jobs work out, but if He allows me to be promoted, I am not going to turn it down.
If I was a family man, maybe I would look at things a little differently.

I would move to San Diego over Cleveland in a heartbeat if the jobs were the same. Of course the cost of living is a lot lower in Cleveland so I guess the San Diego job would have to pay more for the standard of living to be the same.
