I wasn't there and didn't hear the services, so I cannot chime in on the debate; however, I am concerned that an elder in Pentecost is being discounted and his concern "pooh-pooh'ed" when he was truly terribly disturbed in his spirit by somehthing he recognized...so much so that he didn't even want to go back the next day. I read what Brother Strange said, and this wasn't just the gripey rantings of some set-in-his-ways old man who only likes funeral music...he was discerning something far deeper--and you're going to disparage that?

I don't think it matters what songs were sung or who was singing them...it was a spiritual concern that disturbed Bro. Strange. What he was essentially saying was that something crucial seems to have been lost over the years. Should he be held in contempt for that? Even if you don't agree, can't people respect an elder's heartfelt concerns...and maybe (just maybe) look within to see if he has a point? I think it would be wise.

Here is Rev. Strange remarks concerning the worship from this nite.

"Moses coming down the mountain heard strange music. He heard a strange sound. He knew something was wrong from the sound. Someone could have said, "Oh never mind, Moses, these young people have come up with their own sound. They ware worshipping the Lord in their own way and music."

Moses would have known better. He was right. The music was the sound of worship of an idol made of gold. Such sounds will always be different than that of divine consecreation music. The sound of the uncircucised should not be hard to recognize for those that have their ears and eyes turned toward heaven.

I am hearing the worship of an idol. While we have stood stoutly with our standards at the front door of the church, the enemy has slipped in through the back door and has erected an idol in our very midst, under our noses and we did not see it coming. "

The songs that were sung that nite were "There is No God Like Our God", "How Great Is Our God", "How Great Thou Art", "When I Speak Your Name" and "To Worship You I Live".

According to Rev. Strange, this was the music that caused the "Idol Worship" and "weird chanting".

You possibly need to use caution when using these songs in your worship service!!

Right on the money, Polaris.

No room for wisdom in some quarters around here.

Mickey Mangun sung a "Leaning On The Everlasting Arm." It was anointed and sung with deep feeling. I sprung to my feet and acted like I was about to be raptured. LOL.... It was like a drink of spring water after walking across the desert. I could not contain myself.

I heard the joyful sound...

Psa 89:15 Blessed [is] the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

...........and this song was sung while they were taking up the "uncommon seed for the uncommon harvest" offering.

I hope you gave in the offering before you "sprung to your feet" and acted like were "about to be raptured"!!
