I ranked at the cheaper end of the housing in the $50,000 - $75,000 range. Maybe there should be a vote on size and I might rate better as we have 4,000 sq. ft. of living space and 3,000 sq. ft. of garage. : )

I inherited my 1900 sq ft, two story, old house back in 2000 after my dad died. My mom signed one of their properties over to me…I grew up in the house as a little girl, so I have lots of memories. My husband at that time and I worked on the house and mortgaged it for about $25K to do repairs… then after the divorce a few years ago, I refinanced again for more money to put in a new furnace and stuff. I live pretty cheap considering Indiana has high property taxes… which are through the roof… and causing quite a problem here. It is down right ridiculous… My house is worth about 100K now.. I'm still working on it.. and hope to sell it for more than that in the future.
I think I should move to La…(that is cheap for a home) or Texas.. no property or sales tax (TX)… wow.

Since filing Homestead Exemption our taxes run less than $40 per year.
They were $600 before

wow... I pay $65 a month for house taxes... and according to coworkers... my taxes are still low, my house is older and on the lower end of houses around here (at least in this suburb).

OR does not have income tax and you you don't have to pump your own gas. Also, the property taxes are much lower than in the mid-west.

Actually, our property taxes are pretty high in some parts of TX. For our house that is tax appraised at around $95k, the annual property taxes after the homestead exemption are about $2200 per year.
