I inherited my 1900 sq ft, two story, old house back in 2000 after my dad died. My mom signed one of their properties over to me…I grew up in the house as a little girl, so I have lots of memories. My husband at that time and I worked on the house and mortgaged it for about $25K to do repairs… then after the divorce a few years ago, I refinanced again for more money to put in a new furnace and stuff. I live pretty cheap considering Indiana has high property taxes… which are through the roof… and causing quite a problem here. It is down right ridiculous… My house is worth about 100K now.. I'm still working on it.. and hope to sell it for more than that in the future.
I think I should move to La…(that is cheap for a home) or Texas.. no property or sales tax (TX)… wow.
