I agree with Ferd; there is no reason to be fearful of cash on an airplane. For that matter, if Airport Security is now going to be concerned with keeping criminals off airplanes, past, present, small time or not, they are going to lose a lot of business.  Their concern should be related to the safety of those on the airplane. Embezzlers shouldn't raise a red flag in the terrorist alert system.

Airport police and security encompasses more than terrorism. They are a division of law enforcement. They function as police officers, fighting terror is just one of many things they do.
Let's say two dozen men working for a domestic terror cell were trying to get through that airport, each carrying about $5,000 in cash after closing an arms deal. How do you suspect we catch them? What if there was a tip that this may be taking place? And what if this little creep decided to play this game on the wrong night? My point is that there's far more going on behind the scenes than any of you are considering.
