He had nothing to hide and was acting secretive, IMO. There was no need, was there?
My question again - What answer could he possibly have given that would have incriminated him? He said he was afraid of that, so what would have incriminated him? I don't get that part.

I know the whole point is that he was stopped for carrying cash and napolitano said that they can't detain him for that, but - i think i would have just answered their questions and see where it went from there.
Because he understands the end game. Because understands what is happening to our rights because we comply with the infringement.
He was making a stand for what is legal, legit, constitutional and right.

I think that we're either for profiling or we're not. I personally am not opposed to all profiling, even after being submitted to it myself. But here's the point...profiling is not just along the lines of race, ethnicity, and religion. There are certain behavioral profiles that are applied and can be an indication that there is a greater than normal possibility of something illegal going on. Travelling with large amounts of cash hidden away and then being vague or evasive in questioning certainly fits a profile in my opinion. I don't believe we can embrace profiling when it inconveniences others and then be outraged when the possiblity arises that it may inconvenience us.

Let's say two dozen men working for a domestic terror cell were trying to get through that airport, each carrying about $5,000 in cash after closing an arms deal. How do you suspect we catch them? What if there was a tip that this may be taking place? And what if this little creep decided to play this game on the wrong night? My point is that there's far more going on behind the scenes than any of you are considering.
Let's say that the military nabs a muslim photo journalist on the wrong day and tortures him to get information he doesn't actually have...will you defend them in the same manner?
I still don't see how cash is a problem. And there IS NO LAW against carrying cash, at least not that I'm aware of. If one is passed, I suppose we'll have to deal with it, but for the moment, it is LEGAL to carry cash.
It is ludicrous to defend security guards for questioning people on the assumption that they could have 20 other friends passing through the airport with the same amount of cash, as part of an arms deal. Unless they have reason to suspect such activity, they have no reason to question someone because of it. If they had REASON, I think it would have been made public fairly quickly in their defense.

This post seems to state that you feel that they did well to detain this person.
If that is the case.... Then this post surprises me.

I'll check back later.
He was not acting secretive.
He was asserting his rights and freedoms as assured him by the Constitution of The United States.
Had their answer been yes... he would have answered.
The DID NOT answer yes because they had no legal standing to force him to answer those questions.
He knew they didn't.
He stood up to the challenge.
He won.
They had no right.
He knew they had no right.
He called their bluff.
He was set free.
That isn't being secretive. That is making sure your personal rights are recognized.
