Well, how many women actually spend that much on a pair of shoes? See what I'm saying? - it's an extreme. When we get together to party with God and each other - let's dress up! I have no problem with that.

I'd rather have a gorgeous outfit on any day then loaded down with jewelry. I hate necklaces, earrings and rings. I feel chained up and claustrophobic! I also have to, always, wear pumps that slip on and off. I can't have straps or I go nuts!! LOL!

But the point I'm making is not extreme. Don't tell me that jewelry is a sin (I don't believe it is), but other adornment is not. That's a double standard. You can't wear a necklace, but you can take that necklace apart and sew it on your dress, and that's okay. That just is not consistent.

The same thing with modesty. Don't harp continuously on modesty, where it applies to your pet issues (pants, sleeves), but not include the full meaning of the word - to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

It's the double standard that gets me.

I agree with you on the no jewelry, but wear the bling on our clothing. That is stupid.

But as far as dressing to the hilt - hey - I don't even own casual pajamas, so what do I know! LOL!

I don't love double standards.

I never buy anything that is not on sale, though! Why be a sucker?! LOL!

I just bought a suede pair of grey tennis shoes. I never wear tennis shoes, but they were on sale and so pretty!!! Now I have to find an outfit that goes with that!!

A black linen skirt with a grey cashmere sweater!!! I'll never find it! LOL!

Me either! My m.o. is to write down brand names, and then look on Ebay.

And I'm always having to buy clothes to go with my shoes!

I never shop E-bay. Everything I need is in Houston or Austin, Texas!

I agree it is NOT Consistent. We preach against sequins and sparkles on clothing it is as much a sin as makeup.

ok, so in this thread, I have gathered that your church preaches against open toes shoes, high heels, spikey hair (mens hair must be parted), sequins and sparkles on clothing, etc.

Two questions:
1)How do you all have any time left to preach against anything that really is sin, you know like the things that Paul wrote would kep us out of the Kingdom (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

2)your church preaches against all these things, but allow you to be on the internet? Talk about consistency!
