What I meant was that there are those who will make an appeal to the old racist laws against "mixed marriages" as being comparable to the present day resistance to "gay marriage."
That's what I'm saying is "apples and oranges."
A racially "mixed" marriage between a man and a woman will still produce offspring. That is what the racists of the past sought to avoid when they legislated against such marriages.
"Gay marriages" produce no offspring. They are being opposed, not on racist grounds, but on moral grounds.
Gays still have the fundamental rights of free association. They can live with and couple with whomever they choose. They are just currently (for the most part, there are some exceptions) having a societal sanction withheld from their unions in the form of a marriage certificate.
