That is how "long hair" looked in the nineteen fifties in the areas where I was at that time (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio). I was not raised in Pentecost but became a Christian in 1955 and received the Holy Ghost Baptism in 1956.
Many of the girls at Bible school (1956/1957) wore their hair like that. When I came to Cincinnati in 1957, I met a young lady who wore her hair like that and the following year she became my wife. Older women wore theirs "up."
