Not only that most of what kids are exposed to online is more in the soft category, they don't put that stuff out there because they can it is a multi-billion dollar industry. They aren't peddling it for free.

No, of course not. But soft porn and hard porn are not the same thing. A naked woman and moving pictures of God knows what is not the same thing. A mag under a mattress is not the same thing as streaming hours of junk.

Marijuana and cocaine are illegal, most drugs need to be prescribed, some are on the store shelves.
We have big pharma messing with drug test results to make sales. We have the insurance industry with it's fingers in it. Now, the government is going to get it's fingers in as well. I am not for that. But, do I want all drugs, including meth to be legalized? As an allegory, how do you think that would affect America?

Now? Um...we have an entire agency dedicated to it, it is the FDA.

I am talking about the hard-core stuff. If we are going to delve into the fetish side of things, yeah, a lot of those were harder to come by.

I think that accusation is unwarranted.
Your Dad might have had 10-25 magazines in the basement vs hours of streaming video. I stand by my first thoughts.

What kid stumbles on streaming porn?
They don't they have to go looking for it, and most likely pay for it with a credit card.

At the library where I work, I've seen people watching streaming porn. I didn't see them whipping out a credit card. I have seen juveniles watching it.

Re: Legislating Internet Porn
"Pornography revenues are not necessarily ranked according to population. China topped the list in 2006 with more than $27 billion in pornography revenues. However, South Korea, only the 26th most populous nation on earth according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is next in line with more than $25 billion in pornography revenues.
The internet is not the most popular form of pornography in the United States. Video sales and rentals accounted for $3.62 billion in revenue in 2006 while internet pornography raked in $2.84 billion. Magazines were the least popular."

A couple of points. China Spends billions on it yet they regulate it and it is "outlawed" on the internet. that is working well.
Point number two is that most people aren't buying mags they are buying videos. Usually from home on their pay per view.

So, do you think if we legalized meth, cocaine, and marijuana, we'd be better off?

That doesn't mean a credit card wasn't used just because you didn't see it. Kids pay for these sites for and share passwords around school. they are going looking for this it didn't just pop up on the screen while doing a history project.

Accusations? lol, it was merely an observation.
What is the difference between streaming porn and magazines in the basement/under the bed? To a young boy and from a moral standpoint, it doesn't make a lick of difference.
Not only that, but it would be easier to look at a magazine without getting caught than looking at internet porn. No need to worry about clearing your cookies and internet history, no need to worry about tracking programs.
I feel the need to state here that my father did not have any pornographic material in our household. I was exposed to it by accident, and then by purpose after that, lol.
