Re: Baron & Griffin: HELP! (Or anyone else....)
I think it would be a great experience, Miss B.
Besides, they need good people like you.

I think you need to do your civic duty.

I was on a drive by murder trial years ago.

First, I think it is sad that you find such duty an inconvenience that you shouldn't be bothered with. It is your duty.
Second, many of you have confused what takes place during voir dire as opposed to those being declared eligible by system to possibly sit on the trial.
Depending on the practices of the court you are in there may not be much in the way of excusing jurors. In some states there are limited peremptory strikes and only for actual bias can a juror be excused.
Do your duty or don't ever complain about the injustices of our court system again.

I could understand not wanting to be on a death penalty case.

You should read The Citizens Rule Book.
If you don't want to get picked just ask one question...
"What is jury nullification?"
You will not be chosen.

Those are all the same excuses I hear when we have a cleaning party at the church, lol. But this is much more important that that. Jury duty is a civic duty and you should be willing to endure the inconvenience just because it is the price you pay to have the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of your peers when you stand accused someday.
Believe it or not, the last time I was on Jury Duty I actually enjoyed it. It was a life experience everyone needs to have.

Yeah, yeah ...I know it's my civic duty, but I have three children to homeschool, so it really DOES mess up my schedule significantly--and theirs.
I'm not really concerned if we're talking about a one day stint; I can handle one day. I'm worried that it's going to turn into more than one day, and that would be a disaster.

Mmhmmm...I should expect that coming from you. Maybe I should have asked your wife. Most of my OP was meant to be funny so try to have a sense of humor, Baronnnnne!
In the meantime, I suppose my husband will have to take on 8 subjects with the 9th grader, 6 with the 7th grader and learn how to retain the attention of an 8 year old while he learns about commas and verbs.
If it was in the summertime, I wouldn't even complain. I wonder if they could just put me down for the months of June - August?

Re: Baron & Griffin: HELP! (Or anyone else....)
Good Lord. You're all against me.
I do NOT like interruptions in my schedule. It has been very carefully formed and maintained.
You're all right of course.
I hate all of you anyway.

Of course we are right!
Well, you could present the situation of you being an at home school mom of three children and they might put you on the summer rotation list.
