The rider on the white horse in Revelation 19 has many crowns and a sword. This is the real Christ coming to earth to conquer. also ref Zehariah chapter 14.

The white horse in Revelation 6 must be a false christ.
I remember when the king of Saudi Arabia gave President Reagan a white Arabian horse back around 1981 or so. Some wise guy at the Associated Press captioned the picture, "Behold a Pale Horse." The next Sunday, both the pastor and another preacher were excitedly pushing this as evidence of the Apocalypse. That was 30 years ago.

A large number of Dispensationalists see the "white horse rider" in Revelation 6, as being Jesus Christ. The argument is that the symbols in Revelation are immutable. That is, the color "white" is seen as "good" and a sign of God or His representatives and thus it can NEVER be "the devil" or his representatives. Marvin Treece popularized this view among UPCers. Baxter takes a different view.

Some would say that there are no arrows in the bow because, "The battle is already won..." His single crown in Revelation 6:2, is a stephanos - a crown given as a prize such as a laurel. The "crowns" in Revelation 19:12, are diadems - the crown(s) of a ruler. In Revelation 6 we see "the Lord" victorious in the Church (they say), followed by the wrath that is to come after the rapture. Revelation 6:2 is the rapture - Christ returning for His "prize" - While Revelation 19:12, is Christ returning with His saints to conquer and rule.

There was a lot of disputing about this in the early 1980s. It bothered me a great deal as a young man to think that "We" couldn't even be certain about the identity of our own Lord.
