I like to mark, underline, and write in my Bibles. This is Scriptural. Reference
Jeremiah 23:18 which says:
For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath
marked his word, and heard it?
Scofield is good. (It is dispensationalist and cessationist which would be a turn off for some.) At one time I had a loose leaf Scofield and really liked it. I don't think they have been available for many years. Mine became so worn out it is unusable as a Bible. I have most of it still available in a desk drawer and every once in a while I'll get out some of the pages (the binder has not worked in years. the pages are just sorta heaped together) and check out some stuff.
The copyright on the Scofield Bible has expired and it is accessible online at

I had to buy a new Bible a little over a year ago and considered Scofield again but bought a Thompson because they give you some space in their margins to write notes and cross references. Years ago I had a pastor named F.E. Curts. He used to be a distributor for Thompson Bibles so lots of the men in that church had that one. One time he suggested to the people that published the Thompson Bible to publish a version without their notes and cross references in the margins so people could write in their own. Now, I would like that.
The Pentecostal Publishing House offers a Thompson Bible with a 32 page insert of doctrinal teaching.

My wife has a study Bible called Life In the Spirit Study Bible. It is available in KJV or NIV. I would recommend it and I've given away some of them to people.

I have a copy of The Spirit Filled Life Bible. I used to keep it at work (General Electric) and used there in Bible Study classes and just for reading. I would recommend it also. I've also given away some copies of it. Mine was NKLV. I don't know if it is available in other versions or not. I notice that there is a new edition out with the term "New" in the title
