3D is not all that

It came with two pairs of 3D glasses and since we subscribe to DirecTV we have a half a dozen dedicated 3D stations to watch. When we tested it out their was a distinct "wow!" factor that lasted about two minutes, but both me and my wife found we cannot watch for more then 20 minutes without incredable eye strain -we tried watching tonight's Arizona State football game which is broadcast on ESPN 3D but couldn't last past 5 minutes before switching to the normal version.

Anyone else here actually LIKE 3D tv?

I don't get the appeal anyway. Regular-dimensional is good enough for me.

I can see a lot of potential in it IF it is done right and not "over baked". When stereo sound first came out most bands using it went to extremes and had different instruments coming out of one speaker and then the other. It was/is called the ping pong effect and it took a while before musicians and producers used the 2 channels to simulate an actual sound stage. We're still in the ping-pong age of 3D. I do plan on buying the Avatar blueray 3D version since most critics consider this the most well done movie to date.

I am sure it is right around the corner. In fact I hear a report come out of MIT recently......
