Well, I couldn't believe it either but I can promise you - I did not go back for a second helping of it.
Obviously you have been sheltered or are a novice because brother, this was (and sad to say - still IS) the norm in many places I have been and Pastor Epley knows many of them from Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. Independent Conservative Apostolics and they thought I had backslid to the core when I joined the UPC because they preached it was so loose!
I preached for a pretty popular guy (and I really liked him and his talented family) in KY and I noticed his very talented daughter was not on the Hammond Organ. I asked him - Why isn't your daughter on the organ? He said - she went down to that cesspool of sin at the UPC Youth Camp and they persuaded her to shave her legs! She will not get back on that organ till her hair grows back out! He (or at least his wife) did not believe that a woman should put a razor to ANY HAIR on her body!
People wonder why I left all that - now you know some of it! Good people but Lord have mercy!

I've been to some pretty conservative meetings and honestly, those are my preference. There are some good ppl in the UPCI , but for the majority I wish they were a bit stronger on certain issues. In all of the strong holiness meetings I have been in (mostly WPF and a couple others) I have never seen the mean spirit such as you described. I've met a couple independant brothers that were off the wall, but those have not been rule.

That Witchita group that hosts the d&c conference is one mean bunch. Wouldn't cross the street to hear them.

Been there, done that, got the stab wounds to prove it.

I hope this is/was not typical of this fellowship..
In his defence the old Elder taught a simple Bible class from Psa.139:20-21
God in all honesty does hate some folks. I think some of this was poking a little at AB's friend. I was NOT there but heard the same lesson somewhere else and enjoyed it of course I was not the object of the lesson.
NOT defending every statement that was made necessarily but trying to balnace it out.
