Who cares? My husband was beat till blood run down his legs and worse and he turned out fine, too. Albeit with a lot of hurt and anger to work through. How you "turn out" doesn't necessarily speak to your parents' parenting skills. Some abused children rise above their circumstances and become normal, successful adults. That doesn't make the abuse right.

FYI, this video was made in 2004, when the girl was 16. She had the video for a long time and finally released it to the press herself. According to the article below, she has cerebral palsy, making this abuse even more unpalatable. (As if any at all is palatable.)

My daughter is a very good child and very rarely needs spankings. She does not respond well to spankings. It seems to make her worse. She is six and I really hate to spank her but sometimes when she will not allow other correction I am left with no choice.

She claims that my spankings do not hurt, I think she has a high pain tolerance. Anyway, if I was going to spank her to the point of changing her mind about something it would probably look like abuse even though she might be laughing the whole time.

As a child I would never tell my parents that it didn't hurt or laugh when they spanked me because I knew they could make it hurt.

Anyway, I have decided that spankings do not work with my daughter. I spend a lot of time talking with her and trying to teach her. Sometimes she still gets a spanking but only if she is in pure rebellion and it hurts me to do it but it seems like she begs for it at times.

I got spanked all the time as a child and I am not sure the spankings ever helped my attitude or submission.

I got that bad.... and it involved church, or my lack of "desire" to go. Long endless church. Hours and hours of timeless church. Nothing but church. Oh lord how I HATE church. My dad would even drive my near a local insane asylum and threaten shock treatments if I didn't comply and start agreeing to go to church with them as the perfect little child who would make their family unit appear more functional. God almighty I HATE church. And I DARE someone to say "oh get over it and let JEE-ZUS in!".

I received my share of spankings when I was growing up. Generally ours were for rebellion, open disrespect of Mom or Dad, lying, or cheating in school. My parents had other ways to punish asides from spanking, but we were all fairly good kids and could go for months without doing anything to get any more than a scolding. The things I hated more than spankings was a lecture or tears from Mom I would want to scream, "Spank me please, but do not cry!" That was worse than any other punishment Mom crying.

Y'all might not believe this, since I am so sweet and nice. But, I got lots of spankings when I was a kid. Some deserved, others not so much. But, boy I tell you, I hated the switches!!!!!!
