Disgusting behavior on the part of both parents. I could make a specific list but it would be too long. Smart kid, though, catching it on tape.

That being said, this isn't discipline at all but looks more like anger.

Really? So as long as there aren't lacerations and broken bones, she isn't "hurt?"

Who cares? My husband was beat till blood run down his legs and worse and he turned out fine, too. Albeit with a lot of hurt and anger to work through. How you "turn out" doesn't necessarily speak to your parents' parenting skills. Some abused children rise above their circumstances and become normal, successful adults. That doesn't make the abuse right.

That would happen in my house over my dead body. Not only did the Mom not try to protect her daughter, she actually made sure that the Dad knew the whole thing was her daughter's fault. The only thing that I saw that seemed like a sort of back handed defense is that she was trying to get the girl to allow her to whip her on the "butt" so that the Dad would stop. It seemed like a weak attempt at stopping the situation to me.
I would wonder whether or not that anger had been turned on the Mom in the form of physical abuse. Emotional abuse with this kind of man is a given.
Sickening.
FYI, this video was made in 2004, when the girl was 16. She had the video for a long time and finally released it to the press herself. According to the article below, she has cerebral palsy, making this abuse even more unpalatable. (As if any at all is palatable.)
