I never thought of it in those terms Randy. Perhaps we use the term "Word of God" too loosely? We think in terms that since scripture is given by inspiration of God, it must be the Word of God.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (II Timothy 3:16)
