They called him Lord, but they obviously did not obey his will. ...
Do you obey his will? All the time? The rejected believers in the story all thought they were doing his will, but they were not. (Oddly, they were doing things Jesus did, and things the Bible would later tell them they should do. Can't win, can ya!)
What is Jesus' will? Among other things, we see that he expects you to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take in strangers, give a drink to the thirsty, visit the sick and prisoners. If you don't, it's everlasting punishment for you.

Timmy, it's not everlasting punishment. Jesus is only making the point that as fellow human beings, we should have hospitality towards our neighbors.
How can we go to bed warm, stomach filled when we know our neighbor down the street may be cold and hungry? Apparently...some did and we still do 2000 years later. Could this be why Jesus made this point because people generally do not think past their own needs?
I love working at the Dayton Gospel Mission with a few of my house church brothers and sisters. There is nothing like feeding the hungry and caring for those in need.
If you do not have an outlet to assist the poor and the needy today consider donations and/or volunteering your time to your local charitable organization.
So yes, a person can do mighty works in under the anointing in the name of the Lord, but yet the person is NOT approved by the Holy Spirit of God.
TGBTG: Thank you for your wonderful illustrations from Scripture!! Your point remains clear that God can, and does use various instruments, including animals even.. to get his message across to His people. Just because the instrument was used, does not make that instrument justified in God's sight.
Just because a minister/saint, or anyone else is perhaps used of God in a mighty way, does not necessarily mean God is pleased with their life.
Again, a point I have made quite often in the past few days... one must see the FRUIT of the spirit evident in one's life to know if they truly remain a child of God. And that my friend, is the true lithmus test of Christianity, not outward apparel, tongues, standards, and the like.
Let us look for the fruits of the spirit, with the first one being LOVE...

I was just quoting Jesus. He said there would be everlasting punishment for those who don't do those things.

This has to win the award of 'stupid' post of the year. I congratulate you.
Another post by Steve that proves he doesn't care about the facts. IMO, resorting to calling someone, "Stupid", is the tell-tale sign they are running out of options in a debate.
Can any of you folks read? The name of this forum is APOSTOLIC friends forum.
Apostolics teach repentance and the only valid water baptism is by immersion in Jesus Name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues.. So EVERYONE IS LOST who has not obeyed Acts 2:38.
Well, shucks. I guess all children are damned and going to hell!
"I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by ME."
People who claim a different way to salvation...."another doctrine" really scare me. I do not support an 'un-obtainable' salvation which is only for the elite few who understand deep dark secrets. I believe that there 'are' things that we 'need to do' when we understand what our Lord requires of us....But most often, new christians have no way whatsoever to understand the deeper things/the 'meat'. But I also sincerely believe that new believers need 'milk'.....and those who only have the milk are definately saved. When we 'see' that we need to go deeper to Jesus, we definately need to be obedient, but Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe".
You will not catch me 'barring the gates to heaven'....or requiring my imagined 'price or requirement' of people.....especially after Jesus let such a sinner as I into His kingdom. HE ALREADY PAID MY PRICE IN FULL! If I do not offer freely to all to come to Jesus...I will surely burn. Y'all.....can do what 'you' want. As for me and my house....I will love my brother and will welcome all into Jesus' kingdom. It is not my jobe to decide who will burn. Thank You Jesus!...It is not my job....what a 'load-off' my shoulders. Halllelujah! Cal the Sanhedrin after me....I am breaking the law!
Mr. Epley, (And I wish I could call you brother or Elder, but the Bible said, John 13:35"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.") if you pride yourself in being harsh, ugly and uncivil then hold your head high.... you've made it! If what you manifest is love then somewhere I missed it.
The sad part, (in my opinion), nothing I say, nor anything anyone else says on AFF or for that part probably anywhere else, will affect you or change you. You are so self-centered and think that what you say is gospel, and I'm sorry, in many cases it's not! Just because you've "made up your mind" doesn't make it so!
It would appear that you have gone from a spirit of sensitivity to a spirit of sensuality, priding yourself in what great things that you can say, which in fact are not great but are so carnal and fleshy! And I can determine, I believe, that you are not perfect, because you sure don't have your tongue under control if you say the things that you write on AFF. Jas 3:2 "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body."
Now go ahead and make this the second most stupid post of the year, but just because you say this about my post and about Aquila's post does not make it so. I write this in love and in hope that you "might" consider your ways and be a little kinder to the trinitiarians and anyone else that disagrees with you.
You are not God and your word is not the final word! Have a good day.
