I consider miracles the only proof we have that he exists, I say again, God could come down, smash a physical hand on a government building, proclaim in a voice all the world would hear "Heed My Word" and mankind would offer all kinds of descriptions for what happened. He came 2000 years ago, did miracles for years, recorded it, and it still wasn't enough.

Thanks. That helps a little. Still, if God wanted my brother to die for some higher purpose, that doesn't inspire my love or allegiance. Should it?
And miracles are not proof of God's existence. They aren't really proof of anything, considering that it's not possible to know for sure if something was a miracle. How amazing does it have to be? Rods turning into snakes? Nope. Pharaoh's magicians did that. One magic snake devouring other magic snakes? Well, why couldn't the story have included yet another round of magic smackdowns? Why should the last one mentioned be proof that it really was God? It's arbitrary.
