Yes, all this gets old, same ole same ole. Who knows, maybe they didn't like you either. Maybe there was something about you that they saw from the beginning. I love those types, come in and do so much for the church they suddenly think it gives them some kind of "shareholder" rights to direct it. yeah, we got one of those right now. Either way, you got rid of them or they got rid of you. everyone should be happy now , so why you here ? oh yeah, AA. lol.

Scotty, I want to assure you that she is not lying when she is speaking about all the things that went on at her church. I believe you have a wonderful church fellowship to belong to, and perhaps you can't fathom this being the case, but it is true. In the area of Texas where she lives, with a UPC church on almost every street corner, and in every backwoods town, the stuff that goes on would blow your mind, and she probably hasn't even said the half of it.
It sometimes takes a while for those wounds to heal, and to move on, and a place like AFF is where healing can take place... where you see you are not the only one.
I am not saying or encouraging anyone to stop looking for a place to call their home church where the Spirit moves, and people are sincerely loving God. I am reminded of Elijah after he called down fire on the prophets of Bael, and then he went and sat down, and felt sorry for himself, feeling like he was all alone, and God told him that he still had seven thousand who hadn't bowed their knee.
Sometimes you feel you are all alone, in your situation, and it is places like AFF that help you understand there is hope. There are other people suffering too. And there are other people who are continuing on in the faith, despite difficult circumstances.
Until you have walked in someone's shoes, don't judge them. That is the way of Jesus, and not the way of man.

Re: Old Time Pentecost
And I haven't read through all the posts with this thread because of time constraints, been quite busy the last few days. But I wanted to say this, unless no one else has...
When someone brings up "Old Time Pentecost" it makes me chuckle a little bit, because the OTP that we are referring to has supposedly only been around a little over 100 years. That is not the OTP that I want to have. I want to have the experience found in the Book of Acts. Now THAT is old time pentecost folks!!!! Living the book of Acts should be the foundation of our hope, and our desires. There are so many wild and crazy things that have gone on in Pentecostal churches so-called attributed to the Holy Ghost that are so far out, the people in the book of Acts would have thought them quite mad, I think.
I want to line my life up according to what saith the Word of God, and not some crazy notion that got in people's head about how it was in old time pentecost. Pentecost goes a lot farther back folks, and the book of Acts is where it is at.

Not trying to put a damper on you young man, I know you are sincere.

I think the reason that this is such a life changing conference is because of the emphasis of prayer within this particular church. I have heard that the impacts of this one church, have reached worldwide. One brother told me that you cannot go into this church at any time of the night or day without someone being there praying. It is not that there is more of God, but a tremendous burden of prayer.

Its sad really. and Im not sure it will ever be repaired.

This is wrong I agree. And it is not the rule in the WPF. I promise you that! I know many WPF churches that have UPCI preachers from time to time. My pastor is still licensed UPCI and has spoken at several WPF functions and rallies himself.

Really Scotty, it's not about what I want or what they want...it is about what God wants.
So far you have managed to call me backwoods, whiney, hipocrit and a couple of other names a few pages back... Typical of OPs, from what I've seen... If you do not agree, you just write the person off by classifing them as unworthy of your time in your own mind and then try to bring others into agreement with you. I kept my opinions to myself right up to and out the door of my church because I did not expect them to change anything. Some people don't even yet realizze I'm gone as evidenced by a text this morning asking me to help with a current fundraiser (and I probably will since it's something easy for me to do). I am not discussing a person or persons... I've already admitted that I have found some wonderful people in the Pentecostal movement. I AM talking about a system that inserts itself between man and God... That while it claims to direct people to God and connect people with God actually pushes more people away. I am not thinking that what I think or feel or believe will have any impact on such a deeply entrenched system and so no I'm not that person you are describing.
It was interesting to me when doing street ministry how many people had 'Pentecostal backgrounds' but found that they could not fit into the stereotype of an Apostolic. There has to be somewhere for those people besides hell which is where traditional OP churches preach they are all headed.
I've not called you names but I will say your VIEW of God appears very shallow.

Oh brother, If I had a dime everytime this was written.
Your right. That is exactly what this place is for. Its a place to come and dump on people. We are all sitting behind keyboards and a screen. I could be a satan worshipping atheist just stirring the pot for all any of you know. At the same time, we don't know anyone here. Everyone has their own story, and it is theirs and theirs alone. We never get to hear the congregation or pastors side of the story.
(open stage right)
We are told not to follow the great mothership without question, yet we are judgemental if we do not follow every sad story that hits this board without question.
We are told that we are brainwashed if we agree with the "man" made standards of the oh so terrible UPC, yet we are without the love of Christ if we question the words of one person's story.
We are told we should question and turn our back on the organiztion that has, despite it's shortcomings, led many to Christ. Yet we should not question but love unconditionally one person with a sad story of whom for all we know has only led a goat to water.
.
(close the curtains)
But seriously, are we ? If I am allowed to question, no, instructed and encouraged to question preachers, pastors and leaders! If miracles, moves of God, and stirrings of the Holy Spirit can be questioned on here as being nothing more than the emotional hype of someone who just got caught up in a song. Then why am I not allowed to question the other side? Why can't I doubt without being labeled unloving . How do I know they are telling the truth? How do I know they are not just disgruntled church members who are hurt because the pastor didnt shake their hand one sunday morning. Or somebody ate the last slice of apple pie at the potluck. Or heavens forbid, someone took my parking spot!!! they know I been parkin my butt in that spot on that pew for 2 sundays in a row, how dare they!!!..
TIMMAAAYYYYYY , brother, I love you. Now I feel your pain.

Nope, havent called you names, just given fake references to comparable examples and I used the word "maybe".. Its a common posting format I learned from the libs here.

I promise I'm a real person. I live a real life. I am a nurse, I am a farmer, I am a wife and a mother of five sons and a grandmother of 4 precious grandbabies. I garden, fish, ride horses, milk cows. I have a good life. If you ever want to know more about it PM me sometime.
If you do not believe that the people here are real, why do you participate?
No person in the church offended me, even the pastor did not offend me... what is preached over the pulpit as doctrine offends me.

Sometimes the wounds heal but the scars rarely do. I am still "disfigured" from my experience during most of the 80's. Of course I was a teen then and couldn't do anything about it, but as an adult I can.
Incidentally our pastor during these years was from that part of Texas your talking about and attempted (and in some ways succeeded and in other ways not as much) to bring this sort of gospel and way of doing things to Wisconsin. SINCE than many sources have told me that he has mellowed quite a bit and even been "broken" because of his pas actions. I honestly hold no grudges against HIM anymore but the situation has left me with a deep "I will NEVER let this happen again!" attitude.

Hmmmm...so when the tables are turned, some folks feel sorry that the pastor's side doesn't get heard?
What about the pastor who runs to the telephone and calls all the other ministers in the region to tell his side of the story and never wants to deal with the problem while it is in his church? What about the pastor who effectively causes ostracization of a saint because of his blabbermouth? The saint doesn't get heard. Or if the saint does get to tell his/her side of the story, they find some reason, like you are doing in this thread, to beat that saint down with words and doubts about their experience.
As for the congregation, it has been my experience that most of them side with whatever the pastor says because they do not have the moral fortitude to stand up and say to the rest....you are treating your brother or sister wrong. Lest the same thing happen to them. They don't want their boat rocked.
