The last and final destruction of Jerusalem is after the abomination that causes the desolation in revelation. So there must be a temple with a daily sacrifice before Jerusalem can be destroyed.
In light of this I don' t think Iran will do it just yet.
It is also stated that the inhabitants of Jerusalem will flee to the south into that great valley and it will be there that the armies will gather to face their final defeat by the Lord himself.
