Gidley should know better than to truly believe that even a Reagan Democrat would vote for someone like Santorum, who is over the top right wing.

I don't think that was the only reason. It was for Michael Moore, et al. Of course, the MSM played a few clips to seem as though that was the overall reason for it.

And why would they vote for Romeny when he is Obama's twin? - strict cap and trade, Obamacare/Romneycare, etc. etc.

I've read remarks by a whole lot of liberals that are disappointed in Obama's presidency, (Oprah not campaigning for him again - even Obama's lapdog, Matt Damon, is disappointed ) so, I think that some Democrats would vote against him.
