Thirty years ago I discovered Taylor Caldwell and read many of her books. (fwiw she was a relative of Richard Nixon).
In a couple books she espoused a theory involving several extremely rich men from several nations controlling what happens in the world; wars etc.

The theory being that things happened if they made money for this select group of wealthy men. At the time it seemed plausible to me.

I would like to borrow a quick reference to the series Left Behind. There were a number of different characters who had the possiblities to be the Anti-Christ. Eventually, all but one were eliminated by the one who took control, and there were rivals for the role of the False Prophet as well.

I understand that this was a work of fiction, and everybody knew who the 'Ant-Christ' character was going to be. However, it could be possible to see a number rise and attempt to gain control of the world. The first and second horsemen do not have to be the same man.

Why is it nobody wants to comment on the fact that the Islamic al-Mahdi is prophesied to do almost exactly what the biblical Antichrist will do.

In the wake of a third of the world being burned up...banks and technology will almost be useless. The world market will be crashed. The al-Mahdi will mark Muslim followers with a literal mark. If the al-Mahdi controls global oil, he'll control economy. Those who are not marked can be denied trade and barter. Also Islam has religious laws about business with unbelievers. Islam is entirely about subjugation in all areas of life.

Consider this...men who want to hasten the coming of the al-Mahdi are behind global Islamic terrorism. They even killed over three thousand Americans on 9-11. This isn't theoretical...it's already a very real war and people are already dying to thwart his followers.

While we postulate on the Antichrist being a lily white European banker who is a New Age tree hugger, this movement preparing for their al-Mahdi is actively trying to bring the world market to it's knees, killing our soldiers, and feverishly trying to gain nuclear weapons to vaporize the Washington D.C. and Televiv so they can claim the holy land and enthrone their al-Mahdi in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount.

Scary still, they have an ally in Iran...and they are very close to developing nuclear weapons. So close Obama had to talk the Israeli Prime Minister out of attacking Iran this week.

This isn't a theory. This isn't fiction. It's a reality that is now upon us.

I'm not avoiding that fact. I'm just saying we can't count out any possibilities. There's a group that claims that there is a "great prophet" coming called Maitreya who will fulfill every prophesy about every "coming messiah" in every major religion, including the Mahdi and will unify the entire planet. Do I fully understand how this will work? What about the prevalence of satanism, Scientology, and witchcraft in Hollywood and amongst some of the world's elite? Where does all that fall into play?

I think it's undeniable that Islam will play a role in the Anti-Christ system and that it is an Anti-Christ religion. I also think it's undeniable that Catholicism will and already has, as well as Scientology, Wicca, Witchcraft, Confucianism, Sikhism, Taosim, Mysticism, etc. The works of Crowley and Blavadsky can't be ignored when your talking about current events and religion. The denigration of Western Society and Morality, is largely built upon the works of those two individuals, and their followers tend to be the ones who wield the most power on the world stage. Lord Jesus, I sound like Glenn Beck...

If a man who remotedly appeared to be fulfilling prophecies in other religions claimed to be the al-Mahdi, Muslims would reject him. However, if he were solidly Muslim... there is a chance these smaller world religions would embrace him. Especially if the world is in absolute devestation and turmoil... and he controls the oil.

Of course... the US isn't mentioned in Bible prophecy. It could be that the forces of the Antichrist render us helpless, left to watch on the sidelines, digging ourselves out of ashes, as the Antichrist takes over the entire world.

All it would take is three, or maybe four strategic attacks, conducted by a hand full of radicals. If they leveled NYC and DC... our nation would begin to reel into a tailspin and the economy would be rocked beyond anything we've ever seen. America would be too busy trying to survive it's own woes to really pose a serious threat to the Antichrist. Of course... though his followers brought us to our knees....he could always appear to be a man willing to help us... at first.
