I am trying to show that the situation is much more complex than race.
Take race out of the equation and what you have is decades of outsiders coming into a city, making money off of the residents without making any attempt to assimilate with or contribute to the community-- decades of economic policies that have favored outsiders but have discouraged investment by those who actually live there.
Asians are mentioned, but they are the ones selling "soul food" to DC residents-- it makes absolutely no sense at all!
