My Former Pastor had a ministry to the nation of Liberia for some years. He visited there and being a Black man himself did much research on Christianity in Africa. He was very disturbed by what he found and felt there was not much there in the way of pure Christianity.
Lest anyone should be offended by that he taught the same thing was true in America.
There are issues in Africa when it comes to melding Christianity with other things, but I can assure you that there is quite a bit of pure Christianity (in Liberia for sure) . Now I'm curious as to who your pastor was, though.
