I had a number of PM's and phone calls...and my phone DIED last night. So, I am just gonna mention text's I received and questions that have been asked:
1) From what I am hearing, the formation of the SoCal district is not DEAD. Apparerntly, the matter goes back to the General Board. The General Board has final say (?) in the matter and could still approve the So Cal District. I would say, the General Board is in favor of this happening...as they have already given their nod of approval. The hope is still there that the SoCal District will go ahead.
2) I don't know why the vote would have ended like I did. I have my own speculations...but will leave that to myself. I had a question about what does the formation of the new district benefit a certain group of people. I would just point out that there is a higher degree of moderates/conservatives living in the Southern part of California as compared to the Central and Northern part (where conservatives to Ultra Conservatives are in higher numbers).
3) Geographically, it just does not any sense for the district to be this big. They are already complaining about attendance for their meetings being low...however, when you look at 10-12 hour driving times (from Eureka to Santa Maria) it does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
I am sure there will be more discussion. Bro. Mullings, outgoing District Superintendent, spoke last night at the Conference Service. Have not heard a report thus far.
