Re: Thoughts On The Paranormal
I believe we can ignore some things to our peril. Yes, we are born again. That gives us power over these things. But to ignore them... in some circumstances that could prove dangerous.

Here's something interesting about the text:
1 Samuel 28:5-14 (KJV)
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6 And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. The phrase is "I saw 'elohiym ascending out of the earth". This word "gods" is best understood as...
0430 // Myhla // 'elohiym // el-o-heem' //
plural of 0433 ; TWOT - 93c; n m p
AV - God 2346, god 244, judge 5, GOD 1, goddess 2, great 2, mighty 2,
angels 1, exceeding 1, God-ward + 04136 1, godly 1; 2606
1) (plural)
1a) rulers, judges
1b) divine ones
1c) angels
1d) gods
2) (plural intensive - singular meaning)
2a) god, goddess
2b) godlike one
2c) works or special possessions of God
2d) the (true) God
2e) God The woman evidently saw "spirits" ascending out of the earth when she opened the gateway into the realm of the dead. Where did these "gods" go??? Could they have returned to haunt the living? Think about all the "gateways" opened by witches throughout the centuries... how many escape from the realm of the dead into the realm of the living every day? Could these haunt the living?
God commanded against what this woman was doing:
Deuteronomy 18:9-12
English Standard Version (ESV)
9 “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,[a] anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
If there isn't anything behind these things... why does God speak as though it is a forbidden reality? Could one problem with these practices be opening a gateway to speak to the dead free dead spirits, a spiritual "jail break" for lack of a better term? So now we are faced with hauntings today???
Just a thought.

Re: Thoughts On The Paranormal
It's a lot easier believing what's wrong with me is the result of spiritual attacks than there's actually things wrong with my mind.

Heh. Me too. It's been 29 years since I heard that and still have not gotten a reasonable answer.

Seriously... I've seen 'paranormal' type stuff (I was raised in So Cal where it was all the rage when I was a kid)... and I still think that none of it should be of concern to or a problem for the blood bought believer. We can just pretty much ignore it... it's not for us or about us whatever it is.
Oh and I've worked psych. Plenty of stuff flying around while you can still see those folks... and a lot of that is bull______ too.

I would not actively seek out a place to visit that is said to have paranormal activities going on. These days, closer to my winter years, I would love to go to the middle east and view the 4 rivers and imagine where the Garden of Eden might have been. Or view the great magnificent waterfalls of the world. I would like to view the beauty of the world that our Creator Father spoke into existence. I bet the world was exquisite before man bloodied it up with wars and pollution.
It's not really a concern or a problem for me, being a blood bought believer, but I have been in the midst of activity that can only be explained as "paranormal". It wasn't scary because I pray the blood of Christ to cover our home and family. However, certain things just .... happened in my presence, my husband's presence and when my son was a teenager, in his presence.

Re: Thoughts On The Paranormal
A while back I posted a story where my son saw an Angel.
From the thread:
One morning I had to take my son, then 12-years-old, to the doctor. Afterwards on the way to school, he, out of the blue asked me, "Mamma, are Angels female"? Never having seen an Angel myself, I answered the best I could. "I don't think so".
My son replied, " Well, I know they aren't".
"You do? How"?
"Because I saw one last night", He replied.
A shiver of excitement went down my spine. So I said, "Tell me about it".
His story: I don't know what woke me up but I woke up and saw this man sitting on the slipper bench outside my bedroom door. He was all white. He looked over to me and saw that I was awake. So he got up and walked over to me. He took his hand and rubbed my legs and put me back to sleep.
I asked him if he felt his hands on his legs and he replied, "Yes". I asked him if he was scared, he replied, "No".
I was comforted in knowing that God sends Angels to protect my children at night. We have had some spiritual activity in our home on both sides of the spectrum.
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...t=Angel&page=2
But I never posted the rest of the story pertaining to my son.
About 2 years later when he was 14-years-old, I woke up as he came into our room. He was dazed and upset. I moved over to the far side of the bed and my husband moved into the middle as he climbed into the bed with us, beside my husband. Every few seconds, he lifted his head and shoulders up to view the end of the bed. After about 10 minutes of this stuff, I finally told him to tell us what was wrong. It took about as long to get it out of him too as he does not like to talk when he is upset.
It seems that he woke up in his bedroom hearing a little boy laughing. He said the little boy was about 3 or 4-years-old, maybe 5 at the most. He was laughing and running around and he ran through the whirlwind fan that my son kept at the end of his bed. He had asthma and liked the wind movement as he slept. The little boy disappeared. Then he saw a short, shadow type "little dude" with a 20s or 30s gangster style hat and topcoat on, standing at the doorway.
He said he turned on the light and it disappeared. But when he turned the light back off, it reappeared. That was enough for him to take off running to our room.
After he told us what happened, he fell back asleep and by morning everything was normal again. That night he went to bed and we never heard of another shadow man visit.

Well, not to change the subject (which I am obviously doing) but the world was not exactly paradise before man came along. In fact we can thank God that man didn't come along until the time was right!
Wouldn't want to be here when THIS happened (which it did hundreds and hundreds of times).

Re: Thoughts On The Paranormal
Perhaps it depends on what point of view ones chooses to take.
God's Creation
or
Science's big bang with hot molten lava forming the land.
Wouldn't it be awesome to see an asteroid hit the water? Hopefully the people would have advance notice to get away from the coastlines.
