Re: What Do People Think About Christians?
Sikhism:
Good deeds are the manifestation of a healthy spiritual life. Good deeds create merit, improve one's relationship with God, and are the best way to annul the effects of past evil deeds.
Heaven is not attained without good deeds.
Christianity:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Charity covers a multitude of sins
what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
If a brother or sister is ill- clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled" without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?
Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness"; and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone
Islam:
Good deeds annul evil deeds. This is a reminder for the mindful.
Be mindful of your duty [to God], and do good works; and again, be mindful of your duty, and believe; and once again: be mindful of your duty, and do right. God loves the doers of good.
Hinduism:
No one who does good deeds will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come. When such people die, they go to other realms where the righteous live.
Buddhism:
Whoever, by a good deed, covers the evil done, such a one illumines this world like the moon freed from clouds.
Judaism:
I call heaven and earth to witness: whether Jew or Gentile, whether man or woman, whether servant or freeman, they are all equal in this: that the Holy Spirit rests upon them in accordance with their deeds!
He who carries out one good deed acquires for himself one advocate in his own behalf, and he who commits one transgression acquires one accuser against himself. Repentance and good works are like a shield against calamity.

There's one plan of salvation. God would not design a plan of salvation if man could "willingly or ignorantly bar" the door to it. Man has no power to do that. Salvation is a free gift given to man, you are either determined to see Jesus and you will or you are not determined and you will not. If you want to be saved from sin, he will save you. End of story. The church will always have evil men within it. There were twelve apostles, one of them (Judas) was demon possessed. Using that ratio, I go to a church of 1500, so how many do you think are sitting in those pews? Still doesn't make your salvation any more your responsability. Nobody can block you from salvation. It is yours for the taking. We live in an excuse filled generations, everyone has an excuse as for what "so and so" did. "So and so" will not be there when you see Jesus and give an account before him for the sins you commited. That's all I'm saying.

Hmm, and yet there is a curse reserved in Scripture for those who would not enter, and yet bar the door for others; pretty sure it goes something like "...better that a millstone were hung on your neck..." so again, I must say that Scripture disagrees, and man does indeed have the power to do just that.
While I don't disagree that a seeker will find God anyway, we are not talking about them; we are talking about the "Christian" barring the door. It is not even possible that this person would claim a different faith; only someone claiming Christianity could bar the door to Christianity--someone claiming a different message would not be heeded in this case.

But my point is that that doesn't negate every one's personal responsability for their own sin.

Re: What Do People Think About Christians?
Jesus said woe to you when men speak well of you. Jesus said we would be hated by all nations.
