Re: Holiness
I looked into Hughes some time ago. They wanted me to buy the equipment and give $90/ month to them with a two year contract.
I'm not willing to go to that length for something that is just a baby step above dialup.
I've recently been looking into 4 G wifi device that attaches to the computer. I think there is coverage in my area. Trouble is...everybody wants a contract and I hate contracts. I use a prepaid phone for that reason.

The English language is derived from several sources but two main ones are German/Saxon/Norse and French/Latin/Romance. That's why we often have more than one word that mean the same thing. Words like saint, sanctify etc are Romance derived and holy, holiness, etc are Gremanic based

Interesting... and kinda going off topic here...
I've always wondered why the English language is so full of words, yet... there is only one word describing "love" ..... seems to me that we could have created more than one word to describe so many varied and emotional events!
eg: love your children... love your dog... love your car... love your husband/wife... pizza... chocolate... everything and anything we enjoy seems to conjure up the word love.... why could not the "fathers of the English language" not get more creative and have a different way of expressing the word "love" ...
(Love is just one of the words in the English language that I chose to make an example of this, but I am sure there are more with many and varied meanings, making it so very difficult to learn the nuances of the English language)

I prefer the word 'adore' sometimes.

and then there are those who try to earn grace by some rightous deeds thinking some how that they can keep themselved saved by the works they do. That is false as well.
you didnt merit salvation. because of this hyper armenian teaching people are in and out of salvation on a daily basis. empowering sin over the grace of God not fully understanding what liberty in Christ is,
There was no perfect man before christ in the flesh and there is certainly none that was perfect after him, However we are perfected in Him.
This means everyday you fall short, and everyday Grace meets you.
if people are not carefull they try to take that advocacy of Jesus and try to represent themselves to the Father.
Like i said we all strive in sin managment, you fall short. what covers you when you do? your rightous deeds or the work of the cross?

I believe II Peter 1:3-10 holds the answer to this question.
3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
According to Peter, if we seek to put on his divine nature, and divine power, they will give us all we need to obtain life and godliness. With all diligence we can add to our faith like this:
1. Faith
2. Virtue
3. Knowledge
4. Temperance
5. Patience
6. Godliness
7. Brotherly kindness
8. Charity
II Peter 1:8 "For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
II Peter 1:10,11 "... for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the EVERLASTING kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."
|
 Amen!
Now... I'd only add... the divine nature cannot be separated from the divine person. The divine nature is imparted by virtue of God's presence in ontological union with the human spirit.

This is the process of sanctification, the work of the Holy spirit in You.

In my opinion "holiness" is simply "godlikeness", "Christlikeness". Sanctification is the process of growing in Christlikeness. All in Christ are holy. However, all are being sanctified at different rates of growth.

We are commanded to be holy. You are exactly right Michael. And we become Holy by resisting the sinful impulses of the flesh, taking on the mind of Christ by renewing our minds daily in the Word. Christlikeness will produce the fruit of the spirit, born of love.
Being holy isn't a matter of doing... it's a matter of surrendering and allowing Christ to live His life through you. Therefore our part in becoming holy is one of crucifying self... and allowing Christ to be formed in us.

thats pretty much what i said in a above post in this thread i related the sanctification process of a christian who is on the bottle growing up eating meat.
quoting from myself

I am made Holy acceptable through the Blood of Christ, The bible declares i am made rightous through Him.
Because of that I start a christian growth, because of what God has done for me and His power through me, begins a process of growing from milk to meat.
