Thanks, KBTW! I am a huge fan of saving every penny I can. I clip coupons too but my favorite way of saving on groceries is doing ad match at Wal-Mart.

I tried that too a couple of times, but it seemed that almost every time I tried to pull out an ad, Wal-Mart had the lowest price anyway, so I just gave up.... LOL!

Also, how do you handle the items for the price check? Do you put them all together with the sales ad, or just hand the ad to the clerk at the end?

Both times I've tried to do ad match, the clerk got frustrated because she had to pull the ticket, and compare the price, and of course those in the line behind me weren't pleased.

Any ideas on how to deal with this?

Well now, you'll just have to start paying attention when you pull your buggy up to a cashier... if the lady in front of you has a flyer in her hand... you better RUN!!!!!

Re: How to Save Money

I've started making my own laundry soap. It works really well and is a whole lot cheaper than the stuff you have to buy in the stores!

My friend told me (but I haven't tried it personally) that instead of fabric softener, she takes a hunk of aluminum foil and makes a ball out of it and throws it into the dryer. Then between each load she unballs it and balls it back up again. That way she can use it for 6 or 7 loads before she needs a new one.

I checked with Dish.com this week and downgraded our Dish package. Saving us over $45 a month! We went from 250 channels to 55. But even that is plenty!

Finally got ahold of someone from Verizon who could give me some serious good advice. Our Verizon bill is going from $255 a month to $120 a month!!

It's amazing what you can do when you HAVE to - and we have to! Walt is not working now and is on disability. Things have become tight, tight, tight.

Yes!

I have my list of groceries that are all ad match on one sheet and under the grocery store name what items I am buying. I put all items that are not ad match out first. Then, I say "These items back here are Ad Match." Then! I pull out my sign. My sign says COUPON LADY! If you are in a hurry, please choose another line. Many people do not read the sign so I tell people who pull in behind me. This makes the cashier happy, the people behind me happy (some choose to stay so they can watch. ) and me happy because I am not annoying anyone. And I save a bundle.

I am leaving my job soon to become a full time student. We are going to have to watch our pennies!

Wow! A sign huh! You are going high tech!!! What a great idea.... I will try that next time, and maybe *RandyWayne* won't roll his eyes at me, and the cashier won't feel like quitting when I show up in her line.
