For example those who think baring elbows is a terrible sin and immodest are constantly met with disappointment when they see the "immodest" behavior (in their mind) of some other Christians. However for 99.9% of those Christians in question the fact their elbows are showing never crosses their mind as they do not see that as immodest or a sin.

I will grant you that is an extreme example but the principle is the same. I know OP's so locked into their closed culture that they are hyper sensitive to anything that is beyond their little world. For some of them a 5 second glance at a scantily clad girl walking by in the mall grabs their attention and affects them in a greater way than someone who doesn't give them a second glance because they are engaged in the world on a daily basis.
I was simply trying to restate what I thought the original post was saying.

I don't sigh.

I croak, maybe, but sigh? Nah...

Never met a man who ever got turned on by looking at elbows.

I have.

And I won't change my wardrobe to accommodate him.

Glorying in sin

"Making light" of sin.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Glorying In Sin

I guess glorying in sin would be glorying in the acts of the flesh,
while a holy life would manifest the fruit of the Spirit?

Galatians 5:19-23
New International Version (NIV)

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Re: Glorying In Sin

Interesting... I'd have to have some particular examples of what sins are being 'gloried' in.

I don't see sin the same way as some... I use crude language when it is the most descriptive or best understood by the person I am talking to... To me that is no different then asking a patient with a 4th grade education if they can poop and pee OK rather then using the more medical urinate and defecate.

My 17 year old kid was written up in the church school for saying butt as in short for buttocks. He as not being mean or nasty but simply describing the part of a boys anatomy that he fell down on... I was told by a mid 40s man (the principle) that they prefer the term 'hiney'... What the heck is a hiney I asked... or course I was then told that heck is a pentecostal cuss word...

Got me thinking... who decides?

I like wine, Jesus drank wine. That is 'sinful' by some standards... but again WHO decides.

I like you Jason, but I have not seen what you are describing on AFF although I think I might be one who would be categorized as 'glorying' in sin... when really I am just being WHO I REALLY AM. No fake stuff here... I consider being a fake... REAL sin.

It seems that among the AFF crowd here (and those with AFF roots who post primarly on FB) that there is almost a glorying in sin. A glorying in NOT being perfect and being at least a little worldly.
ALMOST glorying in sin. After thinking more about it I would say more of taking sin lightly. There most certainly is a rejection of the message of Matt 5:48. To me thats the root of all sin. Unbelief in the truth. Believing something different than Yeshua. Refusing to come to the fullness of the stature of Christ. The very thing a Christian is supposed to do.

Sanctification is a process. It will not end until our glorification.

We are supposed to be sanctified NOW. If one is not sanctified now he is out of the will of God.

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2
