Satan has been defeated, but will not be destroyed until the time comes for his destruction and punishment, of which time only Christ knows.
It is like this analogy: Satan is like a dog tied to a chain.... he is barking, and roaring like a lion, and he still has all the power he ever had... yet, his power and scope are diminished... he is subject to the name of Christ. He can still torment, and destruct within the circle of the chain he is allowed to go.
But one day his punishment is coming, and he will be destroyed, and punished once and for all. For now, he is simply contained, and being held back by a "leash" if you will... because of Calvary.

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
It just occurred to me, it'd be great if the "Yes" voters would post and say when Satan was defeated. The "No"s could say when they think he will be defeated.

This is actually an interesting question. Jesus said
He beheld Satan fall from heaven as lightening and
in Revelation (just from recall) I think it says that
the great dragon is cast down to earth with great
wrath knowing that he has but a short time. But
trying to figure these things out makes my head
hurt. Being on His right hand is what really counts.
Maybe if you could post a digital clock for your
"countdown to the rapture" software I'll try to
think it through. Deal?
