How is this even a valid question? The name 'Yeshua ha'Moshiach' / Iesou Christou has never been and cannot correctly be translated or pronounced 'Edward Throatwarbler Mangrove' and you know that. Someone who says 'Edward Throatwarbler Mangrove' cannot possibly be simply 'pronouncing' the name of Jesus 'according to his native tongue'.

Why do we feel the need for such extreme, nonsensical, improbable, often impossible, and utterly pointless claims?

I mean isn't the Scripture clear? 'Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved'. And who is that Lord? Is it not Jesus Christ? It's amazing that countless thousands if not millions of people the world over, including the most 'uneducated' backwards third world inhabitants, have gotten it right, but we here on AFF just stumble and keep on stumbling at what is right in front of us.

The point is that if baptism is based on a formula, just how far can one deviate from said formula before it is no longer valid?

And the Edward Throat Warbler Mangrove name is a Monty Python reference from a skit where a game show announcer horrible butchers a contestants name. "We have up next a "Mr. Luxery Yachts"", "No. No. No. it only looks like it is pronounced Luxery Yachts, it is actually pronounced Edward Throat Warbler Mangrove."

I would say that deviating from a formula by introducing an dentirely different name would be a different formula altogether.

And yes, I understand the MP reference. Keep it up and next thing you know we'll have the Spanish Inquisition showing up...
