Thanks for posting, Miss Brattified! I love Bro. Pixler's kind spirit- It will take me a while to read all of the blogs on modesty that he has listed here- but the first was 'right on' ...

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this subject!
I think modesty is a combination of everything you posted above. However, I'd like to also say that I don't believe that modesty is "salvational". For example, a woman will not go to Hell for wearing something like a low cut blouse. However, she is not sanctifying herself to the greatest of her ability and may feel ashamed when standing before the Lord in judgment.

I will keep my coonskin hat and buckskin jacket.
My hickery stick is in my car trunk.

Does the trunk monkey come with the hickory stick?

Re: Let's talk about modesty

For me I want to give my best when going to the House of God. If I dress better to go to a party or shopping or traveling then I would be giving those things a higher priority.

I do not believe you should go out and buy clothes you can't afford either.

But I believe you will act and dress as to how you feel about respecting God.

However, I also am aware the younger generation does not dress up for much of anything. It is their culture. Times change but not all of us old folks like it any more than the generation before us like our styles. That is life.

Yes, and some dress up too much to look as close to the world without crossing the line. That I think is the heart of the matter.

Re: Let's talk about modesty

I was taught by my dad, that modesty is MODERATION IN ALL THINGS.

It's self explanatory.

Modesty means appropriateness.
