I was taught that the devil can imitate everything God can do EXCEPT make a person live right. Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence but if life changes do not follow then there is something wrong.
I have seen people who could jump, shout, speak in beautiful tongues, but were cheating on their husbands.
I've heard this referred to as "having the UNholy ghost."
And Acts 2:38 says baptism is for remission ...so anyone who believes the Bible should have zero argument with that.
The clear teaching of the New Testament is that it is faith and faith alone that saves. At least sixty times the New Testament states that salvation is received by faith with no mention of baptism.

Scripture is its own interpreter. Nothing can cut a diamond but a diamond. Nothing can interpret Scripture but Scripture" Thomas Watson.
We don't accept Jesus--he accepts us! He doesn't need us--we need him!
How do we know he has accepted us?
I know it will hairlip some on here, but just like on the day of Pentecost, they spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterence!
We are initially presented with an image of Christ to accept, and I wonder if anyone can rightly say that they have 'accepted Christ,' do you think? You must define for yourself anything that you say you have accepted, and your--or at least my--definition of Christ is surely inadequate, evolving?
The clear teaching of the New Testament is that it is faith and faith alone that saves. At least sixty times the New Testament states that salvation is received by faith with no mention of baptism.
A hearty amen.

There are biblical holiness standards that anyone who claims to have received the Holy Ghost should be continuously moving towards fulfilling, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Also there are the fruits of the Spirit. If a person isn't trying to live according to God's word and/or isn't bearing fruit, that person needs to judge themselves and get busy.
