"Reversionism" or "compromise" are not always a bad thing. And....No! I will admit that I experimented by inhaling a joint one time after college just to see what the fuss was all about! The next thing I knew, I was naked sitting in a tree singing Beatles tunes! J/K of course!

We will never be completely delivered from what tempts us until we are with the Lord

  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

I agree that we will always have temptations to sin as the devil tries to trip us up but we can be delivered from the battle and view the temptation as abhorent (a loathsome thing). In other words though the devil may still offer temptation God can remove the desire so that i do not want what is offered.
This is possible for any sin.

I disagree. If you don't want something, it isn't a temptation at all. By its very definition, a temptation must actually tempt you.

I Corinthians 10:13 says that with temptation, God will make a way to escape, that "ye may be able to bear it." That's not the same as saying you won't be tempted. There's a way out of every temptation, but tempted we will be.

Re: Something interesting about gays.

The bible says that Jesus was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin (hebrews 4:15). One of the major areas that the devil attacks men in is the area of sexual sins and if as the Bible says Jesus was tempted in all points like we are then He would have undoubtedly been tempted here as well. Are you saying that because Jesus was tempted with immorality that He Jesus had immoral desires. Another example was since He was tempted like we are and some people are tempted to steal and/or lie does that mean He had a desire to steal and lie?

To give a scriptural answer to this:
Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

The word "ABHOR" is defined by Thayer's :
to dislike, abhor,to have a horror of

It is defined by Strong's as:
To detest utterly

Worst. Analogy. Ever.

Why? Because kleptomaniacs are a smaller niche of society than homosexuals? So a person who is born lacking the ability to "refrain from the urge to steal items"--this person is free to steal and God is fine with it?

Or is homosexuality the only sin listed in the Bible that a person can be born with?

Wait...what about heterosexuals? Aren't all heterosexuals born with the inclination to have straight sex? They have to make a conscious choice, then, to either have sex within the bounds of marriage or to remain single. (Assuming we're talking about Christians who are in obedience with God's laws.) How is the struggle of the single heterosexual man or woman any easier than the struggle of the homosexual? I have acquaintances in the ministry who are nearly 40 and still single. As far as I know, they live celibate lives. How is their choice any less difficult than the choice of a homosexual person who remains single in obedience to God's laws?

And yes, I am aware that heterosexuals have the option to marry. However, not everyone finds a spouse, despite their intention to do so, so what about them? Same question for you: God intends for those people to never have sex? Egads. Horror of horrors. Those straight people who haven't found a spouse--they can't ever have sex. How will they ever live their lives and be happy?

Re: Something interesting about gays.

The most bothersome thing about these conversations (to me): If homosexuality is a sin (and I believe it is, according to scripture), then teaching that a person who engages in this particular sin is in good standing with God is not only a lie, but shows a lack of true concern for the sinner. Sin leads to destruction, and sexual sin is particularly destructive. It destroys the body, it destroys the mind and it erodes the human spirit. There is no compassion in the thought process that leaves homosexuals in their sin. None. The truth is what makes us free.

There is more value found in following God's laws than simply the satisfaction of obeying them. His laws have our best interests and fulfillment in mind.
