Re: A Rick Warren quote!

Funny point to make here is that anything else the pastor says besides quoting scripture is a quote from him, so.....I mean, really.

It's not about the quoting, but more about who is quoting that bothers you.

Every once and awhile there is some truth quoted.

Satan does the same thing: Quote some truth to appease.

The only one a pastor needs to quote is Jesus Christ.
I would agree. People requote some of the most stupid things on FB that are half truths. I am always asking. Did you really think about the cute little brainless quote that is actually not correct.

well... im good with TF Tenny quotes.

like.

"If you can change something stop worring about it. If you cant change it, why worry?"

its a great quote.

As for Rick, the quote you list is pretty spot on and clearly is bible based so...

Now if he said, "all roads lead to Rome, embrace Sharia"... I would have a serious problem.

If I find a quote that speaks truth, i dont care if it is Warren or some homeless dude on the corner looking for his next bottle of Mad Dog, I am likely to use it.

Now the issue we may share is, giving greater weight to something said by someone we like...

Re: A Rick Warren quote!

I am not a big fan of Rick Warren either. But that doesn't immediately make everything he says wrong. This particular quote made me squirm somewhat ..... because EVEN THOUGH it came from RW, there is a lot of truth in it. Perhaps we don't like hearing truths that make us squirm , ESPECIALLY from those we don't like. Biblically sound in as much as we are to have no otherer gods. (2nd commandment, Deuteronomy 5: 7,plus all the other references concerning having no other gods.)

Why quote a guy who publicly “apologized to his homosexual friends for making comments in support of California's Proposition-8 (a same-sex marriage ban).

Instead of taking a Biblical stand against homosexuality, Warren apologizes to his homosexual “friends.”

"Christian Celebrities" are quoted way to often, and before we know it we get sucked into
satan's camp and desensitized.
Interesting......I guess that Rick's quote about us falling away from God to modern day idols, such as money, sex and power is "desensitizing" us, and it's a tool of Satan?

Strange strategy on Satan's part........
