One of the things I noticed today when reading it tho stunned me. He was talking about when he first got saved. this would have been back in the 1950's. He mentioned in the book when talking about his first pastor, that he kept a list posted on the bulletin board at the church of who had paid their tithes that week and who had not. I almost dropped the book when I read that! Seriously?? He did NOT say this as a criticism of his former pastor. He was just telling us the story of his life. But I was blown away by it. That's over-the-top!

Margie, I think that was kind of common in a lot of different kinds of churches back then.
I know of baptist churches that did something along those lines. my home church back then didnt post who paid their tithes, but they did post what the pastor made and how much the offering was etc.
