"normal" is not the issue. Sin is in fact quite "normal". It is the "normal" condition for a lost and dying world. It is even the "normal" state for saved folk because we all....every single one of us.... struggle with some sin. "normally" we only have one or two areas that are serious struggles for us as individuals but we all struggle.
I humbly submit that when we as the church fight the state over something we turned over to the state, we are fighting a misplaced battle.
The state does not recognize God. It never has. It never will. The state is a beast that does only what is in the interest of its own self interest.
this is hypocracy.
Here is the simple fact. The constitution of the United States declairs that government cannot treat two people differently before the law. When the church decided to give government the rights of God in sanctioning marriage, it abondoned the RIGHT to say marriage is a covanant ordained and ratified by God. THAT SHIP SAILED.
Now the state recognizes that two people over here can get SS benifits and share healthcare benifits, but these two over here cannot. Constitutionally that simply is not justifyable. The SCOTUS will say as much by June-July this year.
Now the church is "blaming the gays" for horning in on its "sacred" rite. Sorry. It stopped being sacred when we started applying to the STATE and not GOD for a marriage license.
My point that gay people cannot be married, is not a secular view. It is a Christian religious view. It also pre-supposes that I beleive that only GOD can stamp a marriage with approval. NOT THE STATE. But we live in a land where God is excluded. Guess what? in a land where God is excluded from marriage, anything the state says can be married, can in fact be married where the state is concerned.
If you want to stop being a hypocrit, and start being a real christian, stop opposing gay marriage, and start opposing State Sanctioned marriage entirely.

Normally I don't always agree with your posts because we are a little bit different in our POV's. This post, however, is completely on point!
