At what point does a young person become a morally independent individual? There comes a time when they must take a stand and say that they will obey God rather than man. Any step that defies authority must be made carefully with prayer. I am not advocating it in every case, but that becomes an issue between the young person, their parents, and the pastor. If Mom had submitted to my grandparents wishes, she would have not darkened the doors of an Apostolic/Pentecostal church, and would have avoided it until she was on her own. When dealing with young people who are under the parental authority of the unregenerate, the issue is, and always will be, sticky.
