As for the topic of the last few pages, a Christian (Apostolic or not) should dress and carry themselves in a way that will reflect positively on them and bring glory to our Father in Heaven.
Jesus was "a man of no reputation", but the Apostolics have a reputation for being legalistic and strict. The Apostle Paul said such strictness has no spiritual value.
Still, modesty is commanded in the Bible.
Christians have to be taught. The standards of men are guidelines that, if followed, will often keep one away from sin (but not always). Furthermore, standards don't save. Standards doesn't keep anyone saved. The Grace of God saves us and keeps us saved. Standards are not a mechanism of Grace.
Standards are an example of man's attempt to honor God the best way we know how. In order for these standards to have any value in our lives, these standards have to become our own as we attempt to honor our Father the best way we know how.
People go wrong with standards when they try to apply them en masse to congregants, when they try to make their guidelines a measure of another's salvation. The Bible teaches against doing that. We are to compare ourselves to the scriptures, working out our own salvation with fear and trembling.
Teaching the guidelines instead of the Biblical concept behind the guidelines can be dangerous-- idolatry, self-righteousness, manipulation. It's easy to get caught up in these sins while doing what we sincerely believe is right.
Yet, God forgives us and remains faithful even when we're not.
I've seen non-Apostolics who profess salvation, but their dress and lifestyles are unbecoming of Christians.
Yet, God forgives us and remains faithful even when we're not.
Holiness is a life-long process-- a journey, not a destination.
One day, we'll see Him as He is. Until then, the only one that we can see the clearest is ourselves-- and even then, our own hearts can deceive us. I'm so glad we are SAVED by His Grace.

If you really believe this, then I should fear for your soul. I hope God hasn't judged you as lost and I hope He doesn't judge you as lost.

Not trying to be argumentative, (and it probably doesn't matter in the final analysis) but Bishop TD Jakes was NEVER UPCI, he did NOT start under Bro. Billy Cole's ministry........saying it often does not make it true.
Read TD Jakes own bio and you will see what his background was. The earlier quote from Bro. Cole did NOT say that Bishop Jakes was a member of his church, it said he was in their fellowship, meaning that he fellowshipped Bishop Jakes. Jakes' children attended Bro. Cole's Christian school. Again, I am not saying this because I am dropping names as was alluded to earlier, but I knew Bishop Jakes personally before he was ever a Bishop, before he ever was in Cross Lanes (Charleston suburb) when he was still pastoring a storefront church in Smithers, WV (the black section of Montgomery, WV.) I met him in 1984, just 4 years into his pastoral ministry and we broke bread together, fellowshipped and preached at various meetings together for a number of years in that region. Our last time to preach together was in 1994 in Beckley, WV at District Elder Schofield's Anniversary Services: Bishop Jakes' church by that time was running around 1000. He moved to Dallas in 1996.

Re: He is Still Oneness Pentecostal In Heart
Yes Elder, I met him while I assisted the UPC pastor in Beckley for a year back in 94, however I did not get to know him well. He has a stellar reputation in that area.

Show me where Bro. Cole ever made such statements. If it was said I assure you it was NOT said by Bro. Cole or Bishop Jakes because they both know it is NOT true. Bishop Jakes and his wife were married in their building, but were never members of their church. Bishop Jakes was already pastoring when they got married, they used Bro. Cole's building let's try not to make that into something it's not.
But then I guess some people know more than the folks involved. SMH

Well we read things on the internet, and you know you can't post anything on the internet unless it's true.
