Re: Religious or Christian
Isn't "christian" a trinitarian term? I thought the correct word was apostolic.
During my time (a decade) in the UPC I rarely heard anyone refer to themselves as christian.

Re: Religious or Christian
The reason that we rarely refer to ourselves by the Christian label anymore, is the simple fact that everyone wants to be included. Thus, people can support abortion and be Christian, support the gay agenda and be Christian, commit any sin under the sun and be Christian. At that point, it is necessary to find a new label. In fact, idolatry is practiced under the label of Christianity and everyone has grown to accept it as a part of the Christian community. The label was first applied in Antioch, Syria because they were followers of Christ who were separated to Him. The term was not one of a complement but of ridicule.

Re: Religious or Christian
They were first called...Christians....that meant they reminded people of Christ...I hope I can fulfill what being a christian really means.

Re: Religious or Christian
I dentifying one's self as a "Christian" is more biblical than identifying one's self as an "Apostolic":
Acts 11:26
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. I warn that there are false Christians and Legalists. But I will never drop the title "Christian"... even when I've not quite lived up to the identification.

Re: Religious or Christian
Christ, the most sublime revelation of God teaches us to love all, even those we'd otherwise dispise. All are priceless souls to God. What separates us from God and one another is ignorance and pride.
