One of the few lines I remember from that series: "I enjoy children in moderation. . . "

I tend to re-read the entire series every couple of years, and I swear it gets better with repeated readings. (especially some of the later books that don't get as much credit. Anne's House of Dreams would be my second favorite).

I read a book earlier this year called "Looking for Anne of Green Gables", my review at http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/572273290 said

This was actually quite an interesting book, as I knew very little about the author of the classic Anne of Green Gables. This is not a complete biography, but only a snapshot of the people, places and events in the author's life that contributed to the creation of Anne.

One thing I definitely would not have guessed it what a sad, unfortunate life the author lived, but I guess she channeled all the happy endings she wished for into her writings.

This book probably would not appeal to anyone who is not a big fan of the author or her most famous character.
So you might find it interesting. Also, if you haven't her book (the only one she wrote for adults) called "The Blue Castle", YOU HAVE TOO! I read it last fall, and absolutely loved it. My review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/430065641

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! Of course I am a big fan of the Anne of Green Gables series, having read it many times, but I confess I never felt compelled to branch out into L.M. Montgomery's other works.

I stumbled across this book after finishing the last Betsy-Tacy book, and browsing one of fellow Good Readian's (Wendy Darling) bookshelves.

The Blue Castle is the story of 29-year-old ugly duckling Valancy Stirling, an outwardly meek and obedient spinster with a rich internal fantasy life. Upon receiving some disturbing news, she decides that for once she is going to actually live . She then proceeds to start saying and doing whatever her heart desires, much to the horror of her widowed Mother, and various Aunts, Uncles & Cousins.

I was enthralled from the first chapter and read into the night, needing to finish this in one sitting. All together, it was an unexpected Gem, one that I plan to reread many times in the years to come.
By the underlined parts above, I'm sure you can understand why I think you'd REALLY enjoy it!

Thanks, Mich! I watched the movies though and only read the main book once when I was small. I'm more of a non-fiction reader. I am going to ask my Mom if she has read The Blue Castle though. I'm surprised I've never heard of it. Have you read the Emily series by LM Montgomery?

I love Anne's personality.

No, I had never read anything other than the Anne series, though I've heard really good things about the Emily Series, and it's on my to-read list (which is ridiculously horribly long, LOL)

I believe I had Stockholm Syndrome too. Just a fact to me. I think people can get these things on a spectrum. Stockholm Syndrome and PTSD light to heavy.
