Seriously? Do you believe the gifts as described in 1 Cor 12-14 are for today? Or are you saying you have never been in a meeting where the presence of God was demonstrably manifest?
What does that have to do with a "word of knowledge"?
And yes, I have heard people say words of comfort to me when I needed to hear it. But no, I have NEVER had anyone give some specific bit of info that they would have had no way of knowing.

It's really humbling and intimidating at first. You realize how much of an open book your entire life is to God.

I have! And I would have lost my mind if it hadn't happened.
I believe a lot of times God gives someone a word for us... and that person does not know it is a 'divine word' meant for us. And a lot of times God tells us something through another, and it is nothing mysterious or anything, just common sense or perhaps it seems such a plain thing to say - and yet it speaks directly to us, in our situation, giving guidance, instruction, comfort, warning, etc...
Chris, I am thinking of a number between 1 and 1000.
One chance!
That's not how it works Randy. lol
If it did work that way... I'd play the lotto.
For me... I pray and center myself. On the site I look at a photo and pray for some insight. I might get a strange "snap shot" in my head. Normally it's really random like. For example: a park, a car, a tool box, a dresser. I might hear a phrase like, "The food's terrible!" and it's over. Or something like a video clip, like someone jogging. Sometimes I see a big bold capital letter, sometimes I'll see a word spelled out in cursive. Sometimes these things come in a quick series of "snap shots". Sometimes I feel a wave of emotion. Then, as I express what I'm seeing/feeling, I might feel goose-bumps and a tingly sensation throughout my body, like when you hear a really awesome song for the first time. Then they come in strong and suddenly it stops just out of the blue.
