Any Chevy people here?

I'm wondering if it's possible to have a key made for a Chevy if you lose the only key you have for it.

We once were Chevy folks.......lol

Did you buy it from a dealer? If so, they might have some sort of way of
being able to get you another key?

Yes, the dealer can get a key remade. It is expensive, if the keys have the chip in them.

But is it more expensive than having a car towed 15 miles to the dealer or have a new ignition put in? We still need a chipped key, regardless. Oh, and a remote, since that was with the key that's now lost.

We bought it from a Chevy dealer, so we are hoping they can get a key. The remote, however, may be what costs us.

Yes, it should only about $50, per key and remote.

Re: Any Chevy people here?

When you call, be sure to tell them the model year of the car. After calling and being told they could do this, we went in to have a key made for a GMC pickup, to find out it was too old.

Re: Any Chevy people here?

Ended up having the car towed, two keys and two remotes made....to the tune of $450.

He won't be touching my keys again! LOL!

Re: Any Chevy people here?

Don't know why you didn't call a lock smith? My understanding is that the key code is located somewhere on the car. For instance toyota camry has it on the passenger side lock. Cost 60 to go in and retrieve. 60 to key.

The code is located in a hard to get to place for obvious reasons but is somewhere. This is something I would have enlisted a resource other than AFF.
