I agree.
Not sure what to think of these "conversion" groups. I've heard allegations which, if true, border on torture and brainwashing. Electra-shock therapy; beating effigies of their mothers with bats; and other tactics.

I view that as a good or bad situation. I've been in and around some bad leadership and churches in my life, but not all have been bad. I've come out of a bad situation where a good church environment helped the healing process. I think you would find that same scenario with various counselors. One could hurt you, but another could heal.
So, I think, you could find an excellent counselor and you could find a bad one. It's a lot of like a chiropractor, a lawyer, a dentist, a general practitioner, a mechanic, etc.
At the end of the day, the Government needs to not interfere. If I don't want to wear a seat belt, I shouldn't have to do that. If I don't want to wear a motorcycle helmet, I shouldn't have to. But, the horse is out of the gate and it would take some VERY strong, honest, principled leadership to bridle that horse and get it back into the pen. I have my doubts that will ever happen in this country. If I see some improvement in our education system, I may change my mind.

Re: GOP Candidates 2016
Hmm..I don't know. .. Do the government have a right to take your child away from you, if you're an abusive parent, that continually traumatizes mentally and physically, and severely beats your child? Do they have a right to stop you from putting your child through a system that may in some ways do the same? Should they not outlaw it for the chance that it has a potential to not be as bad as it's reputation?
I don't know, just asking questions. ..

If the Bible calls homosexuality an abomination and says that the only sin you cannot be forgiven of is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, I would have to say that a person could change.

Well you can be changed through God, but that's not what I was asking. The only true help and deliverance from this sin is God, but it is my understanding that they're trying to heal them through natural means, often drastic, apart from God. And also, it's my belief that same sex temptation is not the sin, but the actions, whether it be in deeds, words, meditation of this, giving in to your temptations, that is the sin.

I'm not sure that every counselor is using drastic means apart from God. I know Christian counselors who wouldn't use those types of methods. Other than that, I haven't studied it out.

Pence and The Revolution: Five reasons he might be the 2016 dark horse to watch
So why isn’t Indiana Gov. Mike Pence generating the kind of buzz worthy of a top-tier candidate?
Probably because while his opponents have been show horses, he’s been a work horse. And that makes him a dark horse.
Here are five reasons why we should take Pence’s chances very seriously:
