No it doesn't. It is saying don't do one thing
in order to do the other. To make a modern day analogy, it would be like saying "Do not buy that girl drink after drink so you can spend the night with her!". The person is NOT saying do not buy her a drink, but rather is saying do not buy her one for the obvious ulterior motives.
