This what Paul said to the Elders:
(Act 20:17 KJV) And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

(Act 20:28 KJV) Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.


The Elders were men and they are to feed God's church. Women by qualification are not part of this group. Yes, seriously, the Elders feed the church.

Again, you keep referencing the qualifications of a bishop (which is an administrative/ executive office, responsible for the well being of a group of people), and then applying the qualifications that support your opinion, in a way that supports your opinion, to the five fold ministry. Since you are leveraging the 'husband of one wife' as supposed proof that only men can preach, then you must be honest and apply the whole of that qualification, because not all mem are the husband of one wife. that phrase is not secret code for "male or man", that is clearly defining married man. Thus, to be scripturally honest, you must teach that unmarried men are also excluded from the five fold ministry.
I could respect that application because it would be honest, even though I believe the premise to be incorrect. Unfortunately, it seems to be a basic technique of some preachers to simply cherry pick what looks like it supports their pet beliefs and then say, "Bless God, this is how it is because I am the man of God!"
I don't buy it, won't buy it, it is not sound doctrine.

I just have to ask: what is it in this passage that makes you say Miriam was trying to usurp a man's ministry? She and her brother Aaron were doing what I have sadly heard many preachers and preachers' wives do at the restaurant after a conference service: they were talking trash about Moses, their little brother, because of his non Jewish wife.

LOL - They've been shown over & over & over & over & over ad nauseum infinitum that prophecy is not a sermon from the Scriptures (which is why her "earth-shattering" argument regarding prophets not preaching from the canon actually works against her !) - & yet, true to form, they still persist in contending for their own way despite crystal-clear biblical commands - it's called "dishonesty" with the biblical data .

This thread would be amusing if it wasn't so sad. Thanks to Roxanne and Sis. Alvear for being voices of reason! As if the Bible wasn't clear enough when it says the Holy Ghost will be poured out on ALL FLESH and that your sons and DAUGHTERS shall prophesy. It seems some people will go to great lengths to stretch and manipulate scripture to prove things that God never intended. God is clear about the things He wanted to be clear about, and the rest was never intended to be made into doctrines by men ... He just doesn't need our help.

I couldn't agree more - some folks just refuse to allow the Scriptures to stand on its own merits, but "manipulate" the crystal-clear teachings & straight-forward Word of God - such as:
