Ah; and we know you are right, because you are there, and we are not. Our Father would not let so precious a stone be cast aside, I'm thinking. Ignore the legalists, i say; and heed the lesson of the women watering camels! praying that you know God's will in this, whatever it might be.

And ps, what you got sounds like pregnant to me; and note how those who are called lord may be treated in Scripture--just sayin'. still love Emma, tho--that was my granny's name

We have become very close to a former Amish family. They became born again while Amish when a revival swept through Lancaster County, PA nine years ago. Because of being born again, they were ex-communicated from the Amish! Cut off from their families, shunned, and some terrible things happened to them. Yet, they are the most loving, kind, wonderful people of God you will ever meet.
Emma, i wonder if you might comment here as to how prevalent this scenario is, what your reaction would have been if they were close friends, etc? would you 'shun' these people?

I would absolutely shun them! They are just seeking a worldly path and now are wearing veilings instead of kapps. It is a slippery slope. They do not want to be under authority and are disobeying the ordnung. You call this getting closer to God? If I claim Jesus but put on some fishnet stockings and walk downtown am I closer to God?

This subject, like many others, will continue to be debated, because personal interpretation of the scriptures will never cease. Every one has their own personal interpretation of the very same scriptures.... and therefore, it's not going away.

These discussions will not go away... perhaps not even Jesus himself could silence the debates... And even if Jesus himself were to show up here on AFF proclaiming the way it is.... how many would even recognize Him for who He is? When he came to earth the first time, most had no clue who He was, namely the "Pharisees" (the religious group of the day). It is no different today....
